Emma Biggerstaff Donovan was my gg-grandmother. Unfortunately, very little is known about her. It is believed that she hailed from Maryland and moved to Rockingham County, Virginia, after her marriage to John O. Donovan.
Any info that I have has come in bits and pieces and is mostly oral record. I believe that Emma died young and that John remarried a woman named Amy, as later census records, as well as their children's marriage records indicate this.
My g-grandfather, William, was most likely Emma's son, per census and marriage records.

The Donovan cemetery was located in the Hopkins Gap area of Rockingham County, Virginia. The cemetery was located about one half mile north of Gospel Hill Church and west of present Route 612 (Hopkins Gap Road). In 1967 J. Robert Swank wrote that this "cemetery was destroyed by high water. There were perhaps as many as 25 graves."
