Ernest Joseph Couture Jr. was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 21st 1924. He was the son of Ernest Joseph Couture and Annie Marie Hill and was one of 11 children. He was a member of the United States Army and served in Europe under General Patton during World War II. During active duty he was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife Hildegard Gertrude Palubitzki. They Had the first of five chidren while in Germany. They were married upon arriving back in the states, on November 2, 1947 in Andover, MA. In the early 1950's he moved his family from Andover to Florence and began employment at Pro Corp, where he worked for over 30 years. During those 30 years he also took a second job working nights at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Annunciation Church in Florence. He was an active gardener and loved spending time with his family.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 61 years Hilla Couture; his three daughters, Barbara M. Southwick, Madeline T. Colson and her husband Leonard, and Patricia M. Josko and her husband John; and his twin sons, Micheal E. Couture and his wife Annie and Gerard J. Couture and his wife Laury.
He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Pamela, Angela, Scott, Kurt, Jake, Jason, Jeffrey, Steven, Jennifer, Micheal, Erica, Katie, Daniel, Andrea and also 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Couture, his sister Ann Reed and husband David, and his brother Normand's wife Lorraine, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
