Minnie Belle Wells Ropp Pea
Birth: Nov. 29, 1893
Missouri, USA
Death: Jan. 20, 1936
La Due
Henry County
Missouri, USA

Dau of Randolph Wells and Julia Alice Bellomy.

Her mother died giving birth to Minnie. Her father handed her to the Ropp family (Samuel Ropp and Mary Alice Fahnestock Ropp) at Julia's gravesite.

Minnie was raised as Ropp from infancy, it is not known if she was formally adopted or just given the name of Ropp.

In 1900 Henry MO: ROPP Samuel/1850, Mary Alice (Fahnestock) with ch Fred/son and Minnie Belle/Nov 1893/adopted dau.

1910 Linn KS: Minnie B/16/niece with her adoptive parents are in home of Major Godfrey ROPP and family, who is brother of Minnie's adoptive father, Samuel.

The Ropp family moved west, settling in Idaho. Minnie did not know she was adopted until she had married and had her own child. As soon as she learned of her biological family she brought her son to Missouri by train to meet her siblings. She and her sister, Amanda (Wells) Coleman, had a striking resemblance to each other and became very close, corresponding frequently throughout the rest of their lives. The photo at right is of sisters Amanda (on left), her son, and Minnie (right) holding her baby. It was taken the first time they ever saw each other, note how alike they are in dress, hair style and facial features.

Blessings to my great aunt, sister of grandpa George Wells. The Wells family had a big family dinner at Aunt Mandy's when Minnie came to Missouri to meet her "lost" family.
