Jacob Bonesteel was born February 11, 1804, in Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, N.Y., and christened at Gilead Evangelican Lutheran Church at Center Brunswick.
He married Eleanor Dickinson ca 1826, at Brunswick. In the 1850 Census, they were living im Northampton, Summit Co., Ohio. The family included:

Jacob died 29 July 1871, at Fairfield Twp, Shiawassee Co., Michigan, aged 67, of consumption on what was known as Wash Haines's farm.
Burial was in Ford Cemetery, at Elba Twp, Gratiot Co., Michigan.(Grave is located across(west)of Stewart & Margaret Thompson, at 1st road at East end of Ford Cemetery, 2 miles north of Elsie, Mich.)

1)Catherine MARGARET Bonesteel, born 12 August 1827, West Turin, Lewis Co.,NY. She married Stewart Thompson at Northampton, Summit Co., Ohio, 1 May 1843. Margaret died 23 September 1908, at Chapin Village, Mackinaw Co., Michigan aged 81; burial was at Ford Cemetery, Elba Twp, Gratiot Co., Michigan.
2)David Bonesteel, born at Turin Twp., Lewis Co., NY, in 1829. He married Amanda Chase, at Akron, Summit Co., Ohio, on 18 August 1855.
In 1860, he was head of a household, Northampton, Summit Co., Ohio, composed of wife Amanda, and son Albert F. & .
On Sept 30, 1864, David mustered into "H" Co, 177th Ohio Infantry. He died of disease August 19, 1865, on board the Hospital Transport ship Ben DeFord, enroute from Morehead City, N.C. to NYC, N.Y. He was buried in Cyprus Hill Nat'l. Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY., as Daniel Bonesteel. (Gravesite 2576)

3) Emily Bonesteel, born ca 1830, NY. She married Henry W. Prior at Akron, Summit Co., Ohio in 1852 or 1854. Died 1867.
4)Lucinda Bonesteel, born Feb 14, 1833, NY. Married John Rogers, at Akron, Ohio ca 1855. Died April 1, 1922.
5)Clarissa A.Bonesteel, born ca 1836. Married Ewing M. Clark, June 13, 1852, Summit Co., Ohio. Ewing registered in the Civil War Draft, July 1, 1843, from Harristown, Illinois. He was 43 years old, and born in PA.
6)George H. Boneteel-Born 1840, Ohio. Married Loretta Prior , ca 1859. In Civil War, 1863-1864. "F" Co., 6th Ohio Cavalry. Promoted to Corporal Dec 25, 1863. Listed as a Prisoner of War, Yellow Tavern, VA,, Oct 1, 1864. Died of disease as POW on Dec 19, 1864, at Salisbury, N.C. Burial was in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury,N.C.
7)Levi Bonesteel-Born ca 1844, Ohio. Married Annie Mill, who was born in England. Levi served in the Civil War, mustering into Co."D", 6th Ohio Cavalry. He was discharged for Disability January 8, 1864. Levi was head of a household, 100 Huntington St., Ward 6, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1870. (In his family is a son, George) Levi died ca 5 June 1897, at the age of 52 years, 8 months, in Cleveland. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
8)Charles Edward Bonesteel-born ca 1846, in Ohio. Married Thirza . He was living in Michigan in August 1878, at the time of his brother Ezra L. Bonesteel's tragic death in Owasso, Michigan.
9)Ezra Bonesteel-Born March 12, 1848. Married Anna Goeppert, ca 1868, Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. He died Aug 24, 1878, Owosso, Shiawassee Co., Michigan.
He was a Civil War veteran. 1861-1865. Co."F", 6th Ohio Cavalry.
