Andrew Jarka,age 70, a widely know farmer of Springfield township, died at 11:45 o'clock Thursday night after a mnonth's illness. His death was due to a complication of ailments.
He was a native of Poland and was born on Nov. 20, 1864, a son of Paul Jarka and Mary (Fidler) Jarka, both of whom are now deceased. He resided in this country 46 years.
Mr. Jark and Stanislawa Prochniak were united in marriage on Jan. 15, 1888, in Poland. She died on Sept., 11, 1932.
Surviving him are the following children; John of Indianapolis; Charles and William, of Lafayette; Frnak, Paul, and Theodore Jarka, Mrs. (Helen) John Kniola, Mrs. Anna)Otto Clough, Mrs. (Agnes) Anthony Ramion, Mrs. (Harriet) Anthony Sobocinski, and Mrs.(Elizabeth) Leo Januchowski, all of this city; and Mrs.(Theresa) Leo Walotka and the Misses Josephine and Frances Jarka, at home. One daughter, Mary Jarka, died in infancy. He leaves also 16 grandchildren, a brother, Anthony Jarka, of Chicago; a half-brother, John Jarka, of Poland and an uncle, Frank Fidler, of Chicago.
Mr. Jarka was affliated with St. Stanislaus' Catholic church. He was a kind husband and father, and was always ready to help those in need and distress. Mr. Jarka bore his last illness with Christian fortitude and resignation, which was a great comfort to those near and dear to him.
Funeral services will he held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the home and 9 o'clock in St. Stanislaus' church, Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. In accordance with Mr. Jarka's request, his six sons will act as pallbearers. Burial will be in the famil lot in Calvary Cemetery, Mich.City, IN. The body may be viewed in the home in Springfield twp., Saturday and Sunday.
