Born on the Shiloh Ranch in Bird's Landing, Solano, CA. Married Hazel Sherman Bailey (daughter of George Eliphalet Bailey and Phebe Ann Peckham Tew) on 14 Feb 1923 in Newport, Rhode Island where Russel was serving in the Navy and Hazel was a singer. During Russell's 30 year Navy career he served aboard the U.S.S. Curtis which was in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed in WWII. The ship saw damage when a Zero crashed into the deck. Russell and Hazel had two children. Russell died at his home at 619 Seymour Street in Napa, Napa, CA.
