AGED MAN KILLED
Respected Citizen of Humboldt Run Down by a Team.
Another shocking accident, the second in as many weeks, occurred at Humboldt, and resulted in the death of an aged citizen, William Lee, who made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mattie Monasmith., of West First street. The old gentleman was coming up town in the evening with a wheelbarrow load of garden produce, when he was run down by a team belonging to Charles Harshberger who with two companions was coming home from work in the country. When the victim of the accident was removed to his home a few blocks distant he was found to be suffering from several broken ribs and a fractured breast bone, the framework of the chest being literally caved in. The wounds were dressed, but the patient had not sufficient strength to withstand the shock and died soon after coming out of from under the influence of the stimulants given. Mr. Lee was seventy-seven years of age and was among the pioneers of southeastern Nebraska. He leaves six grown children, four daughters and two sons, all residents of this vicinity, except one son in Colorado and a daughter in Kansas.
