John was the son of Wayne and Mary T. Zima Ogle. He told the story of his birth as follows "My mother had a younger brother named Jackie or John Patrick Zima. He died suddenly at the age of 14 on September 4, 1945. On September 3rd 1949 the doctor told my mom that I was due on October 17th as they thought and to start coming in once a week. I was born the next morning September 4, 1949 at 2:35 AM exactly 4 years to the day, hour and minute that Uncle Jackie was born and I look like him. So my birth was hailed as an Irish miracle and I was spoiled."
John was raised in the Emmett community and attended Holy Cross Grade School and St. Marys High School there. He then graduated from Kansas State University. John was was an elementary school teacher in both Virginia and Washington State. He was preceded in death by his father and his life partner of 31 years, whom passed away from cancer.
Survivors include his daughter Shalon Ragnoni; his mother Mary T. Ogle; a sister, Linda (Mike) Peterson; a brother, Jim (Arla) Ogle; grandchildren, T.J., Denise and Cooper; two nieces, 2 nephews and his two yorkies.
