I never got to meet my grand dad. When we moved to England from the states he was already very ill and died within days of us getting into the country.

What I do know is that he was from Bedlinog, South Wales and lived in Coly Row as a child. It's a beautiful little village in the valley of Wales. The people who live there are wonderful and friendly. They still remember my grand dad too.

He worked in the coal mines for a time. He met my grandmother in York and they married. They had a daughter (my mother) and a son. He was a hard worker and took care of his family. They moved to Gloucester and live on Birch Ave, in Coney Hill.

My grand dad died from cancer of the ear. It's believed that a tiny piece of coal had lodged in his ear and was there for years and caused the cancer. He died in a Bristol hospital.
