Frank Hamilton, 76, Ex-Oil Worker, Dies
Frank Hamilton, 76, of Route 6, died Thursday in a hospital.
The retired Gulf Oil Corporation employee was the great-grandson of Andrew Jackson Hamilton first provisional governor of Texas after the Civil War.
Hamilton, who retired in 1951, spent 50 years in the oil fields. He was born in Austin and was in High School there when Spindletop came in the winter 1901.
When school was out in the spring he and a dentist's son, without asking permission of anybody, took the train to Beaumont. They expected work through the summer and return to Austin for the opening of school in the fall.
However, Hamilton never returned Oil got into his blood.
He handled jobs as fireman, derrick man, driller, pumper, tool pusher, gauger and waterworks man. One time at Sour Lake be was blinded for 21 days by poisonous gas fumes.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mmes. Alford Prentice and B. H. Andrews of Fort Worth and H. C. Montgomery of Ranger; two sons, Charles of Fort Worth and Everett Hamilton of Breckendridge, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be directed by Satterwhite Funeral Chapel in Breckenridge at 3 p. m. Saturday in the First Christian church there, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Frank Hamilton Former Breck Resident Dies
Frank Hamilton, 76, a former resident of Stephens County, died Thursday in Fort Worth. He was a retired Gulf Oil Company employee.
Born August 25, 1886, in Austin, he lived in Stephens County until eight years ago. At the time of his death, he was making his home at 2609 W. Bewick Street in Fort Worth.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday in the Breckenridge First Christian Church. Dr. A. O. Guy, pastor, will officiate with burial following in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Satterwhite Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie; three daughters, Mrs. A. R. Prentiss and Mrs. Bill Andrews, both of Fort Worth; and Mrs. H. C. Montgomery of Ranger; two sons, W. E. of Breckenridge and Charles R., of Fort Worth; fours sisters, Mrs. Fred Arnspaugh and Mrs. Carolyn Patton, both of Dallas, Mrs. Sim Parrish of Florida and Mrs. Ray Miller of Galveston.
