Dwayne Freeto died while performing his duties as a Fort Worth police officer. He was a loving father and husband who married the love of his life Jan. 1, 1996. He was a present and caring father who adored his two girls. Dwayne was proud to be a Fort Worth police officer and felt called of God to serve the citizens of that city. Dwayne served in the U.S. Army, First Calvary, Fort Hood for four years and did tours in Bosnia, Kuwait and Korea. He had an associate degree from Texas State Technical College, Waco. Dwayne graduated from the Fort Worth Police Academy on March 17, 2006, with Cclass 113.

Linda Freeto of Midlothian said her son was "an amazing young man" and a best friend to his brother, "Chuck".

A four-year commitment with the 1st Calvary at Foot Hood took him to South Korea, Bosnia and Kuwait. But before he left, he married his wife, Karen, in a small family ceremony officiated by Freeto's father, Carl Freeto, who is senior pastor of the 800-member First United Methodist Church in Midlothian. The couple would have celebrated their 11th anniversary Jan. 1, Linda Freeto said.

Survivors: Wife, Karen; daughters, Jordin and Jenna; brother, Charles and wife, Anna; parents, Linda and Carl Freeto; mother-in-law, Ruth Pirelo; and grandparents, Neale and Barbara Freeto.
