Lifelong Ketchikan resident Jeannie Lou Peabody, 47, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, following a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 12, 1961, to Mary and Agust Orbistondo at Ketchikan General Hospital. She attended Holy Name Catholic School through her elementary years and was a 1979 Ketchikan High School graduate.
Ms. Peabody was most recently employed as a pharmacy technician at Ketchikan General Hospital and as a food server at Jeremiah's Restaurant.
Most will remember her smiling face behind the counter at Race Avenue Drug.
"The thing Jeannie enjoyed most in life was playing with her grandchildren and she had many special interests, bowling, knitting, reading, and walking," her family writes. "Jeannie was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and close friend. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will be missed by many."
Ms. Peabody was preceded in death by her father, Agust Orbistondo.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Orbistondo of Ketchikan; sons, Christopher Peabody and his wife Adelaide of Ketchikan, and Brian Peabody of Hudson, Wis.; grandchildren, Mason and Sienna Peabody of Ketchikan; companion, James Armstrong of Ketchikan; sister, Judy Doran of Ketchikan; brothers, John Orbistondo and his wife Darla of Juneau, and James Orbistondo and his wife Jennifer of Maple Valley, Wash.; nephews, Ryan and Steven Doran of Ketchikan; nieces, Danielle and Cassie Orbistondo of Juneau, and Kate and Paige Orbistondo of Maple Valley; and ex-husband, John Peabody of Houston, Texas.
A viewing is scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Holy Name Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at Bayview Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service, there will be a reception to celebrate her life in the Holy Name Catholic Church parish hall.

Thought of you today, I usually do everytime I walk into Safeway, or grab a bite at Jeremiah's. You'd be proud of your sons, they are doing well, but you probably already know that. We miss you Jeannie.|
