Wilmot, NH - Robert Herman Bishop, 90, died at his home in Wilmot on Nov. 3, 2012.
He was born June 28, 1922, in Nashua, to the late William and Delia (Pearson) Bishop. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Doris (DeGagne) Bishop.
Mr. Bishop served in the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II, having participated in five major battles including the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He was a charter member of the Bedford American Legion Post.
Mr. Bishop was a member and deacon of the Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church in New London. He was active in Freemasonry, having been a 50-year member and Past Master of Washington Lodge #61 in Manchester. He was a past presiding officer in the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Nashua, having been Coroneted with the 33rd Degree.
He was a member of the York Rite Bodies in Manchester. He was also a member of Bektash Temple Shriners in Concord and proud of his time with the Clown Unit. [He was also a much loved member of King Solomon's Lodge #14, F.&A.M. of Elkins, NH.]
Bob (as he always liked to be called) loved to fish on Bow Lake, golf, and snow and water ski. He was an accomplished brick mason, having built fireplaces in his free time. He served nine years on the Manchester Police Department and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He is further survived by his three children, Bonnie S. Bickford and her husband, Karl of Manchester, Martha B. Drociak and her husband, Frank, of Strafford and Arthur W. Bishop of Wilmot and his wife, Patricia, of Vienna, Va. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the New London Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Program for their wonderful care and support.
Services: The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. at the New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery Chapel in Boscawen.
