16 Feb 1912
Mrs. John Bond died at her home in Collbran last Tuesday afternoon, February 13th from peritonitis after a short illness. At three o'clock Wednesday afternoon a short funeral service was held at the church, conducted by Rev. Gray, after which the body was placed in its last resting place in Clover cemetery.
Laura Saunders Stanton was born at Silver Plume, Colorado, February 27, 1877. Here she resided with her parents until June 17, 1893, when she was married to John Bond. To this union was born five children, three boys and two girls, who survive their mother. The oldest is a boy of thirteen, and the two youngest are mere babies.
About three years ago the Bond family came to Colbran where they have since resided.
Mrs. Bond was known by her neighbors to be a good woman, a loving mother, a woman whose life was a beautiful sacrifice to her children and loved ones. And the untimely death of this good woman is made doubly sad by the thought of five little children left orphans.
Mrs. Bond had three brothers and one sister living. They are S. J. Stanton of Collbran, H. F. Stanton of Rifle, Charles E. Stanton of Silver Plume, and Mrs. Clara Roberts of Tombstone, Arizona. The aged mother, Mrs. Martha Stanton is living also, and resides in Denver. Much sympathy is felt here for this family so suddenly deprived of a mother's care - so sadly needed.
