His name was Meiko (or, if he was in trouble, Meiko Cornelius Sebastian). Meiko was a friendly, loving companion for all his wonderful years. He came into my life when he was 6 weeks old. He was a tri-color, black English collie/border collie mix.
He was a brave dog, having no qualms about hiding behind me after treeing a cat. He did his best to forbid me to do anything that he couldn't do with me - except work. He did very well - I became very well trained.
He loved hiking, running, playing half-fetch (translation - 'here it is, I found it') and snowballs. He also enjoyed yard work. Well, he enjoyed it when I did it, especially raking the leaves so he could jump into them and scatter them all over the yard again.
He was a smart and a very empathic being. He was always by my side when I was sad. He rooted for the Dallas Cowboys when they played and showed his team spirit by wearing his Cowboy bandana.
Meiko is loved and missed dearly by myself, his brother Remington, an 11yo lab/chow and his sister Jessie, a 2yo tabby.
He was preceded in death by his Mamaw and Papaw. Meiko passed two months shy of his 15th birthday due to multiple health and age problems. He was euthanized on October 19 by the wonderful and caring people at the Washington County Animal Shelter.
