Mark, age 49, didn't have a mean bone in his body. (This photo of him throwing a punch is just play acting--he is pretending to fight for me!)
He LOVED Johnny Cash and his two favorite songs were, "I Walk The Line" and "Ring of Fire."
He would get so excited when they were played, his face would lite up like a Christmas tree and would dance in his chair when they were played on the jukebox.
He looked forward to holidays and had the enthusiasm of a five year old for each occasion. He just LOVED them!!!
He liked to give greeting cards, especially musical ones. He had beautiful handwriting-he printing everything in block writing.
He enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne and he also liked Perry Mason and all Christmas movies.
He was very independent, walked everywhere and was a good eater. Whatever you put in front of him, he would eat and always showed gratitude! He enjoyed cooking a turkey and liked eating at Norms.
He never complained about his epileptic condition and would even pray for other people with medical issues.
He loved his family, and adored his mother, Lupe, whom he is buried with.
He was a very simple man that wasn't ruled by status, money, possessions or superficialities. He was my hero.
Patsy Kline was one of Mark's favorite singers and when he died, they were giving away all his CD's. I happened to get this one and am very sentimental about it. Please, if you have a moment, click on this hyperlink and listen to this great song about the wonder of trains:
