Vol. Co. 38 Inf. US on Oct 2. John was ill from the beginning of his military service. He died of Typhoid fever on July 29, 1900 at 10:18pm at Manilla P.I. hospital and was buried there. Later he was exhumed and brought to the Presidio for reburial. It was recorded on his record "Service Honest and Faithful"
