|Birth: ||Dec., Sri Lanka|
|Death: ||Sep. 7, 1987, Sri Lanka|
Rohan was a dear friend of my family and I. He called my parents Mum and Dad and he was like a brother to me. I met him in 1978 at my local Assembly of God Church in Gateshead, New South Wales Australia. Rohan was like at ray of sunshine in my life and he could light up a room or your life with his smile. He loved to tell jokes and he was a true christian in every sense of the word. He was a beautiful man that would always lend a helping hand and always saw the good in people. We often had discussions about religion and God and the good and bad in people. I miss those talks terribly. My Mum helped Rohan to get his Australian citizenship and he was so thrilled when he received it and declared himself a real Aussie. Rohan was a pastor at the church and taught religion at the local infants school and all the children loved him at the christian camps. Rohan decided to move back to Sri Lanka to spread the word of God. Tragically one night on the way to a prayer meeting Rohan and 4 others were ambushed in their van by Tamil Tigers and killed. It was later discovered it he was a victim of mistaken identity. He was 42 and buried in Sri Lanka, hence the reason I have paid this tribute to him here. Now I have a place I can visit him any time I want. When I'm down I often think of him and remembered a little ditty he used to say. God make the black children, he made them in the night, He made them in a hurry and forgot to paint them white. It always makes me smile. I feel privileged to have known him and so lucky to have had him as a friend. Here's to you Dear Friend and the love you gave. The world is a poorer place without you.
