Lillian Mae (Lent) Crabbe Morse (1858-1929)
Lillian was born to Norman and Caroline Mathilda (Richmond) Lent in Naperville, Illinois. Her father was a blacksmith who lived and worked for many years at the corner of Webster and High Street (which is today is part of the city parking lot across the street for Naper Settlement). The Dupage River was just yards from the house and she grew up in a large family----she had 10 brothers and sisters. According to her grand-neice (Adele Lee), "Aunt Lily (as I knew her) was a tall, pretty lady, who worried a lot. She took good care of her family and was constantly concerned about their health. My mother, Ila Lent (Edwin Wesley Lent's daughter and therefore Lillian's neice), told me of many visits to Chicago and the fun she always had with her cousins Grace, Mabel, and Nellie, who owned a delicatessen shop there. Mother also spoke of one visit there when she contracted a very bad cold, and Aunt Lily put her in a steaming hot tub to soak and then came in and threw a pail of cold water on her 'to close the pores and cure the cold.' Mother said she didn't know which was worse, the cold or the cure."

Lilly met a young carriage trimmer named Gustavus A. Crabbe and fell in love; they married 31 October 1883 and had three daughters:
Grace (b. 1884)
Mabel (b. 1886)
Nellie (b. 1888)

Sadly, Gus died March 19, 1890. Lillian moved to Chicago at some point with her three young girls and lived in a boarding house. She met Louis K. Morse, and accountant, they married and had two boys, Eugene Morse and Norman Morse. Lillian was visiting her daughter in New England, North Dakota, and came down with pneumonia in March of 1929. She was brought back to Chicago where she had lived for so many years and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery (per her neice Adele Lee.)
