Adele P. Lee, 94, of Sioux City, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 at a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Merlin Schrader of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery, Correctionville, Iowa. Adele was born Jan. 24, 1911 in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Illa (Lent) Patterson. Her stepfather was Ener Lee. Adele worked for the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service for over 25 years before retiring to Sioux City in 1969. While in the foreign service, she served in Guatemala, Peru, Sweden, The Soviet Union, Austria, Nicaragua, Switzerland and Jamaica, as well as Washington, D.C. Adele was an avid reader and she enjoyed researching her family history. She maintained an active interest in multicultural issues and was a very positive influence to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, and her adorable feline companion Gateway.
