PFC David Austin Kirkpatrick
Birth: Feb. 1, 1987, USA
Death: Apr. 27, 2007, Iraq

Pfc. Kirkpatrick of Matthews, Indiana is a 2006 Eastbrook High School graduate. David collected guns, loved reading books about the Army and could name every kind of military tank and vehicle. As a young boy he was always wearing Camo clothes, so no one was surprised when he enlisted in the Army. He often practiced shooting his grandfather's guns and every now and then would go hunting. It was hard to part him with guns, even the toy ones. Looking at an old Easter photo with his four sisters and David dressed nicely. Only then, did the family notice he had stuck a squirt gun in the waist of his pants. He lived out his life long goal of serving his country in the Army. As a student, his favorite classroom was outside, the woods, exploring and enjoying the adventure of discovery. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was affectionately called "Petey Jon" during his younger years. David liked tinkering with the family's cars and even took automotive classes at Tucker Career and Technology Center. He loved dirt bikes and old trucks. He had even bought a few old trucks and fixed them up. That was his favorite hobby. He loved working on vehicles. This was a passion that he also did as a mechanic in the military. He was 20.
