HAMP, GARY V.- Aged 75, of Columbia Township, formerly of Napoleon, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009. He is survived by six children, Greg (Theresa) Hamp of Florida, Tami (Alan) Vogt of Horton, Kevin (Lisa Duckham) Hamp of Waterford, Dennis Cough of Cement City, Vickie (Rick) Rice of Norvell and Doug (Denise) Cough of Brooklyn; ten grandchildren, Travis and Dustin Harwood, Chelsea Hamp, Jessica (Todd) Back, Jon, Megan, Kaitlin and Brandon Cough, Kirsten (Roy) Logan and Amy Hooper; great-grandchildren; sister, June Swaney of Toledo; nieces and nephews. Gary was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School and was a Korean Era Veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1957, he moved to Napoleon and in 2003 moved to the Clark Lake area. He worked at Miller Tool & Die for 15 years and has been a Realtor since 1973. Gary was the owner of Realty World - Allied in Brooklyn and Gary Hamp Realty in Napoleon; was an agent for Dreyer Realty in Grass Lake and most recent with Century 21 - Jester & Associates in Napoleon. Gary was an active member of the Napoleon Lions Club and the American Legion Post #315 in Brooklyn. He was instrumental in starting the girls youth softball program in Napoleon and was active in the early days of the Napoleon Athletic Boosters.
