She was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Overbrook, the daughter of Roy and Rebecca Ahlstrand Eberly.
She grew up in the Overbrook area and graduated in 1931 from Overbrook High School. She moved to Baldwin in 1933 and worked as a teller and bookkeeper for Baldwin State Bank for more than 15 years.
Mrs. Hobson was a former member of Overbrook United Methodist Church, where she was a pianist. She was a member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and was organist and pianist there. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and its board, the Rebecca Lodge for more than 60 years and the Wilmyra Extension Home Unit. She was a 4-H leader for the Rainbow-Palmyra 4-H Club.
She married Dana Hobson on June 3, 1933, in Garnett. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Hobson died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Topeka.
Baldwin — Services for Doris Hobson, 81, Baldwin, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, Baldwin, with the Rev. Jay Krumeich officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Sly, Baldwin; a son, Dana "Woody" Hobson Jr., Baldwin; two sisters, Avis Markley, Oswego, and Helen Jamison, Ellsinore, Calif.; a brother, J. D. Eberly, Colby; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
