Margaret Emma Gosnell Battenfeld

Died May 16, 2012. She was born August 28, 1928 in Federal Hill, Baltimore City to the late Allen Hussell Gosnell and Marie Mathilda Koehnlein. She was christened at St Luke's German Lutheran Church in West Baltimore. She was the granddaughter of the late William Louis Gosnell and Margaret Anna (Schimp) Gosnell and John George Koehnlein and Catherine (Schoenhals) Koehnlein all of Baltimore.

She lived in Lombardee Beach Glen Burnie since 1936 and went to Solley Elementary School.
During WWII she worked at the Maryland Biscuit Co, Buck Glass Co., BVD Factory, M&J Cleaners, and finally 38 years at Proctor & Gamble in Locust Point where she retired in 1994.

Mrs. Battenfeld was married to the late James Tomasek and for a short time lived in Long Beach, California. She was also married to the late John Godlewski and John Battenfeld both of Baltimore.
She was the sister of the late Anna Sibylla Gosnell Stone (Harry), Elmira Adele Gosnell Van Collom (Joseph), Leota Blanche Gosnell Schmidt (Leonard) Allen Hussell Gosnell (Lillian) and Elmer David Gosnell (Dorothy).

She is survived by her three sons Craig B Bencie (Allison) of Leonardtown, MD, Stewart Godlweski (Lynn) of Bethlehem, MD, and Mark Battenfeld (Holly) of Pasadena MD. She had 10 grandchildren; Paula Jean Wortman of Stevensville, MD Craig Bencie Jr of Glen Burnie, Steven Bencie of Fredericksburg VA, Brian Bencie of Pompano Beach Florida, Stewart and Stacy Godlewski of Preston MD, Mark and Jennifer Battenfeld and Debbie Fitzgerald of Pasadena MD, and Alston John Andrews of Glen Burnie.
She is further survived by 15 great grandchildren

She enjoyed dancing, the waterfront, boating, NCIS and the Wheel of Fortune. She was a member of the Independent Oil and Chemical Union at Proctor & Gamble.

She died after a short battle with cancer.

Services will be held at Gonce's Funeral Home in Riviera Beach, Pasadena, Maryland. Burial will be at Parkwood Cemetery in Parkville, Northeast Baltimore.
