John O. Bangert
Son of Philip Aloyisus Oliver and Sara Elizabeth Montgomery Bangert. Brother of William Joseph, Emma Agnes, Josephine, Everett R., Margaret Elizabeth, H. Frank, Dorothy May, Luther, and Ralph Lawrence Bangert.
He married Ruby Ilene Cochran June 7, 1939. Father of Everett Maurice, Lyle Patrick, Ronald Gene, and Jona Bea Bangert.
John worked many years in the oil industry. He began with an old truck that was converted into a tank truck to be used in the oil fields. Over the years his equipment & employees grew into a thriving business. At the time of his death he was the owner of Bangert Casing Pulling Company which was located in Clay City, IL.

ACTIVITY DURING WWII
ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 14, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (745), AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 23, 1944 AS A REPLACEMENT BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH THE 143RD INFANTRY REGIMENT, 36TH 'PANTHER' INFANTRY DIVISION IN THE RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON APRIL 4, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN.
