John Olmer, State Senate ExAide, Dies
John H. Olmer, 72, former reading clerk of the State Senate, died Monday at his home, 1534 N.W. 59th St., after a long illness. Mr. Olmer was in the real-estate and insurance business. As a young man he played baseball for the old Seattle Northwest League under Daniel Dugdale. Later he was a baseball coach for elementary schools. Mr. Olmer was active in the 44th District Democratic Club and was a member of the Holy Name Society; Seattle Council, Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree. Rosary will be said at 7:30 o'clock tomorrow evening in Hoffner's Fisher-Kalfus chapel. Requiem Mass will be said at 9 o'clock Friday in St. Alphonsus' Church. Burial will be in Calvary. He was born in Penn Station, Pa. He came here in 1911 while serving in the Navy. Surviving are his wife, Amy; a son, Arthur Olmer, Seattle; a brother and three sisters in the East and three grandchildren.
