Leon was a retired Auctioneer. He ran the Aloha Auction in Aloha, Oregon for 12 years. He was married to Annetta Irene Martinson in 1929. They divorced and he remarried 3 more times. He was a long time resident of Scappoose, OR. Leon has daughters, Donna L. Senff-Mata of San Jacinto, CA and Delores V. Senff-Fritz of Gresham, OR.
He graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA in 1950.
Leons parents were Charles Edward and Lydia Emma(Brase) Senff. He moved his family from Dazey, North Dakota to Portland, Oregon in June 1941.
Leon was an ironworker for some years in the 40s, having worked to build Grand Coulee Dam, WA. He also worked on an Army base in Medford, OR, a Navy base in northern Idaho, a Drugstore in Salt Lake City, UT, a Magnesium Plant in Luning, NV, Umatilla Ordinance Depot in Oregon,& another Ordinance Depot near Susanville, CA. He was a Marine Machinist during WW II and worked in the Vancouver, WA Shipyards for 3 years building Aircraft Carriers, where he advanced to a Leadman position.
After the war he bought property near Brightwood, OR on Mt. Hood and was a logger and cat-skinner for several years before he decided to fullfill a lifelong dream to become an Auctioneer. Listening to the tobacco auctioneers on the radio got him started on wanting to be as good as the tobacco auctioneer.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Lydia Senff, brothers Marion Senff of Georgetown, MN, Sherman Senff of Portland, OR, Harold Senff of Hermiston, OR, and Raymond 'Jack' Senff of Portland, OR, as well as sisters, Emma Senff Thorne-Maruska of Courtenay, ND, Hazel Senff-Mohr-Wevick of Centerville, SD, and Vera Senff-Davis-Syrock-Hughes of Oregon City, OR and Vermillion, SD.
Also preceding him in death were 2 wives, Betty Jean Brandow-McEuin-Senff-Diede of Portland, OR, and Mildred Lorraine Morris-Hull-Senff of Scappoose, OR. His first wife Annetta Irene Martinson-Senff-Martin survives him.
