Jonathan Ryan "Jon" Barnes, 24, of Florence, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at his residence after a car he was working on slipped from the jack.

He was born April 15, 1985, in Indianapolis, the son of Mitchel Lee and Theresa Ann Stout Barnes. He had lived in Switzerland County since 1993 and was a 2003 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He was a shift leader operator at North American Stainless in Carrollton, Ky. ,where he had worked for five years. He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, tinkering with his cars, trucks and his tractor.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Rose Day Barnes, whom he married Aug. 12, 2006; one daughter, Kaydence Lynn Barnes; his parents, Mitch and Cyndi Barnes of Vevay, and Terri Stout Barnes and her companion, Dan Petty, of Lebanon, Ohio; four brothers, Jeff Barnes of Vevay, Justin Barnes of Vevay, Army Cpl. Jamin Moore of South Korea and Aaron Moore of Franklin; his grandparents, Jerry and Linda Barnes of Vevay, Charlie and Carol Seymour of East Enterprise, and Gladys McGovern of Indianapolis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester McGovern.

The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery.
