Myrtle Mae Walters (my Grandmother) was born in Gallatin, Missouri into a whole house full of kids. As a young adult she moved, with the family, to St. Louis.
This was the day of many rooming houses and several of her sisters owned one. She lived in an apartment with her two children when a tornado hit St. Louis. They lived at the corner of Grand and Easton and her son had just left to go back to school after lunch. The area was hit hard but she ran through the rubble and live wires to the school to be sure he was safe. She was that kind of mother.
Myrtle was a wonderful Christian woman. She was a long time member of Fourth Baptist Church.
She loved to move .... referred to as part gypsy. She'd find a house, Grandpa would fix it up for her and she'd decide she wanted to move again. I don't think he ever said no.
Her husband Roy L. Walters died in 1964.
She had two children Violet (Henry) Heiman and Henry (Jane) Bergfeld. Three grandkids who loved her dearly; Dennis Bergfeld, Judy Youngblood and Susan Friedricks.
Nana also enjoyed her great grandkids: Derek, Michael, Raef, Ryan, Adam and Rhrett.
Mrytle and Roy attended Brooks Bible Institute and were amazing Sunday School teachers. They witnessed to many through their love of the Lord.
