Joseph was the tenth child of Omer Curd and Amelia Schmanski. About 1926 the family moved from Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Los Angeles County, California. He preferred using his middle name, so he switched to being called Harrington Joseph. He married Kathryn Cole 31 October 1931 in Santa Ana, California. They had three children: Ronald Arthur; Vena Diane; Michael Dennis. He worked as a drill press operator, steel derrick manufacturing. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed drinking and cussing good-naturedly and playing cards with his wife's family. He worked very hard to support his family and everyone who knew him loved him. He died of bladder cancer.
