My great-grandfather, Theodore C. Risch, died unexpectedly in his rural Rock County home (Route 5) at the age of 74 on Sunday December 2, 1956. A member of the International Typographical Union for 44 years, he had followed the trade of his father and also has 4 sons in the printer's trade. He was a member of Local 171, Elgin, Illinois, and retired seven years before his death from Roto-Color, Inc of St. Charles, Illinois. Theodore was the son of Herman William and Caroline Frederich Risch and was born in Crookston Minnesota on November 28, 1882. He married my great grandmother Addie O'Neill in Red Wing Minnesota on February 2, 1904. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1954. My mother fondly remembers this occasion. The photo of them on this memorial was taken that day. Theodore was survived by his wife; four sons; three daughters; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and his sister Julia.
