Bill Temple Spencer died peacefully at his home in Wimberley on December 28, 2006 at the age of 85 after a difficult 9 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born on January 31, 1923 to Julius and Mayme Spencer in Tyler Texas.
He attended and graduated from Tyler High School and then attended the University of Texas in Austin where he graduated with a BA in Journalism. He also attended Oxford University in England but his education was interupted with the beginning of World War II. He joined the Army and served his country with courage and honor.
Just after the War, he met and fell in love with Gloria "Dody" Spencer. They were married on June 4, 1954 and lived in Dallas, Texas.
He went to work for Peter Wolf Associates, climbing the company ladder, finally becoming Vice President in charge of Sales. He worked there for 19 years then went to work for David H. Gibson Company.
Upon his retirement, he and Dody moved to the small village of Wimberley, Texas where they began a business renting out Guest Cottages.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother J.C. Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, his sons, Scott Lamar Spencer of Killeen, Texas, Stewart Lenoir Spencer of Wimberley, Texas and Bryan Temple Spencer, also of Killeen, Texas.
He leaves behind a host of good friends and precious memories and a loving and loved family who will always love him and who miss him deeply.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
