Robert E. Gilmore Sr.
Memorial service for Robert E. Gilmore, Sr., 84, Granada Ave., Holly Hill, will be held today (Sunday, March 25), at 4:00 p.m., at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. Mr. Gilmore passed away Friday morning, March 23, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 16, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Florida in 1950 and has been a resident of Volusia County for 40 years. He was a member of the 347th Signal Co. Wing of the Army/Air Corp [Army Air Forces] in the Phillipines during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR racing, tinkering in his garage, and socializing with family and friends. Mr. Gilmore is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia; his four daughters, Christine Pellor, Carmel, Indiana; Kathy Fuori, Cumming, Georgia; Deborah Stack, Woodstock, Georgia; and Patricia Konietzky, Anderson, South Carolina; and a son, Robert E. Gilmore, Jr., Ormond Beach, Florida; a brother, James Gilmore, Valatie, New York. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Geraldine Gilmore; his brother, John Gilmore; sisters, Geraldine and Shirley Gilmore. He also has thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Internment will be held at a later date in the Georgia National Veteran's Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, near where most of his family resides. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL, 32129.
