Phyllis "Sugar" Koehn played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1943 to 1950, most notably as a member of the Kenosha Comets and South Bend Blue Sox.
Phyllis was a reliable pitcher who had her best year in 1946 with the South Bend Blue Sox.
That year she pitched in 39 games and finished the season with 22 wins and 15 losses.
Racine was a strong contester in a field of 8 teams. They finished 3rd behind first place Racine and Grand Rapids in second but only missed the pennant by a 3 game spread between the 3 leading teams.
"Sugar" was Phyllis's nick name and not only a force to be reckoned with on the mound, she was a timely hitter with an 8-year ERA of 200.
