Robert Francis "Joe" Beauchemin, Sr
Birth: Mar. 8, 1918
Clinton County
New York, USA
Death: Jun. 12, 2006
Clinton County
New York, USA

Joe was born on March 8, 1918, as the son of Solomon and Mabel (Collins) Beauchemin, both of whom he has also joined.

A sister, Marion; and a brother, Arnold, predeceased him.

A graduate of Sallaz Academy, Joe married his Sarah, nee Lyman, on Nov. 12, 1942, in Tennessee, shortly before his departure to the front as a Master Sergeant in the European Theatre. He was a proud veteran. Upon his return to civilian life, Joe worked in an astonishing array of employment. He had many stories about his work on the farms around Saranac, first and foremost at his father's place where Joe spent his entire life. His roots in country life and lore were deep, but his mechanical ability was a wonder, it seemed that he could fix anything and everything. Joe worked in various factories in Plattsburgh, owned "True Garage" with his cousin and was the mechanic of choice in local businesses, even during his long career at the Department of Corrections where he retired from Dannemora State Prison.

Joe was a founding member of the Saranac Fire Volunteers. He and Sarah were active parishioners of the Church of the Assumption in Redford all of their married lives. For them, the value of community came second to only family. They participated fully and took every opportunity to contribute for the great joy of taking part.
