He married LYDIA E. HOLE on October 20, 1877 in Vermilion County, Illinois, daughter of Jonah HOLE, II and Margaret RICE.
John was the son of Rev. Christian J. AMOLD and wife Susan Jane WYNN. Christian married Susan on November 10, 1838 in Marsh Farms, Chester County, Pennsylvania, daughter of Rev. Jonathan WYNN and Mary Elizabeth WYNN (cousins).
Jonathan AMOLD is spelled ARNOLD on his son's (Roland Willis AMOLD) Florida Death Certificate.
"J. E. Arnold" (age 28) was a self-employed druggist in Elwood, Vermilion County, Illinois in 1880. It shows both his parents as being born in Pennsylvania. His wife "Lydia Arnold" (age 23) is listed as Keeping House and her father was born in Ohio, mother born in Illinois. "Roland Arnold" is also listed. Roland AMOLD is their oldest child.

The following is in the book titled "History of Orlando" written by E. H. Gore, published in 1949 and 1951: "Mr. John E. Amold was a native of Illinois who located in Florida in 1884 and settled in Orlando in 1891. He was employed by Mr. S. S. Waterhouse in the feed and fertilizer business, but in May 1898, when Mr. W. R. O'Neal was appointed postmaster, he took Mr. Amold in the office as assistant postmaster. He held this position for 16 years, up to the time of his death. He was always very courteous to the public and made many friends. He had four children, two of whom, Mr. Charles Winn AMOLD and Mrs. James Cecil POWERS still reside in Orlando."
