OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Aug 17 2011 "Obituaries: Violet Nelson"
Violet Nelson, age 88, of Caspian, MI, died Wednesday, August 10 at her home after a battle with cancer.
She was born March 10, 1923 in Berkshire Location, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Folino) Fittante. She attended the Stambaugh Schools. She grew up in Berkshire Location until 1940, when her parents built a new home in Caspian at 536 First Street. She worked for Harry Plous as a salesperson in the Chicago Store in the furniture department.
On February 18, 1947 she married Arthur H. Nelson at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian. Her husband established Nelson Floor Covering in Caspian and she served as secretary and sales representative for the business. They owned and operated the business for 37 years, and in the later years of the business, the couple wintered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he also installed carpeting and tile floors for another carpet shop. They retired in 1987, and Arthur passed away on January 21, 1998.
Violet was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian. She enjoyed cooking and baking Italian food and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by a sister Camille Perlongo, and a brother Louis Fittante.
She is survived by her sister, Mary (Leo) Pisoni of Victorian Heights

Funeral Service: Friday, August 12, 2011 at 2:00 at the Jacobs Funeral Home with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate.
Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River

INFORMATION FROM RELATIVE nephew Gary Pisoni says her first name was really Yolanda, but in school there were too many girls with that name, so the teacher started calling her Violet.
