Death: Jul. 25, 1993

My Dad's real name was James Edward Roach but he changed it when he was about 20 years old. He was named after his father, James, and his father's twin brother, Edward, who died in France during WWI.

He was in the United States Army from 1947 to 1956. In 1951 he was a Corporal in the 82nd. Signal Company at Fort Bragg, NC, and a Sgt. in the 80th AAA in Dec 1953. He was a Master Parachutist in the 82nd Airborne, and a helipcopter pilot in Korea from 1954 to 1955.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Aviator Badge, and the Senior Parachutist Badge.

Later in life he got his Merchant Marine ticket and was a Master Radio/Electronics Officer from 1968 to 1991.
