Helen was the daughter of William Sherman Randall and Hattie Lacey Beers. She had one brother: Harold Beers Randall.
Helen was a graduate of Dana Hall School, Wellesley, MA and served as a volunteer for the Red Cross in World War II. She took singing lessons early on and was so talented that her teacher suggested she study at the Metropolitan Opera Company in N.Y. City. She did not. Instead, she chose to live a simple life loving & caring for her husband Charles Roger Williams whom she married on March 6, 1916 in Shelton, Ct. and son Charles Roger, Jr. She lived in Providence for 65 years on 21 Mt. Hope Avenue. She was a devout member of the Church of the Redeemer on Hope St., Prov. Her favorite pastime was playing "Duplicate" bridge, which she was extremely good at. In her 1950 diary she mentions, almost each and every night....that she "marbled". I wish I knew more about it, is it an actual game with marbles.....but can't imagine exactly what because she played with her blind mother. After her mother's death, she never "marbled" again.
She was a cousin (2nd cousin?) of the famous actor Charlie Ruggles and his brother, director (who directed Mae West) Wesley Ruggles. She mentions several times throughout her diaries of Charlie and his daughter Louise, coming to visit at her parents house in Shelton, CT and to her own house in Providence, RI.
Helen had bone cancer when she passed on from old age.
She has 3 grandchildren of which I am one and 5 g-grandchildren.
