Son of Frank E. and Martha (Ramsberger) Yelinko. Husband of Liz (Heydt) Yelinko. They were married 34 years. Three children: David, Christopher and Amy. He was a Reading and English teacher at Salisbury High School from 1965 to 1999 and head baseball coach for 29 years beginning in 1971 compiling a record of 401-252. Highlights include 10 Colonial League championships, 18 District XI appearances, 4 District XI championships, 6 PIAA appearances, 3 PIAA Final Four appearances and 2 PIAA third place finishes. He was also a longtime assistant basketball coach and became head basketball coach in 1993. In his seven years as head basketball coach he had a record of 118-71 which included 2 Colonial League championships, 5 District XI appearances, 1 District XI Class 2A championship and 2 PIAA tournament appearances. He was a member and past president of the National Federation of High School Coaches; served on its publication committee and was named its 1989 Coach of the Year. He was Gatorade 1993 Coach of the Year, Golden Diamond 1993 Pennsylvania Baseball Coach of the Year, and a 1992 Walt Disney Coach of the Year nominee. He also conducted the Iron Falcon baseball camp for Salisbury Township youths, was an instructor at Camp Olympic, and coached the Lehigh Valley All Star baseball team in the 1998 Carpenter Cup. He touched the lives of many, not just at Salisbury but throughout the entire Lehigh Valley.
