Whitney John Floyd
Birth: Sep. 21, 1966
Detroit
Wayne County
Michigan, USA
Death: Sep. 8, 2000
Southfield
Oakland County
Michigan, USA

Whitney is first my nephew. He is the oldest of two children born to Susan Floyd and Daryll Butler. He has a sister Nageela Forch and several brothers and a sister from his father and one brother who's name is Vance Butler, he has a nephew Kurt and a neice Brooklyn. His grandparent's are Elizabeth and Phonell Floyd (they both preceed him in death). He has including me (Alisohn) four aunts Bonnie, Lisa and Victoria and two uncles, Vincent and Lance Floyd, four very special cousins Dijon, Yavonne, Antoine and Donald. He was the first grandchild born to our family. Whitney's Godmother Sylvia Hardy.

He was very out going, independent and a dedicated young man who worked overtime at everything he accomplished in his life. Everyone who knew him loved and adored him. Whitney graduated from Cass Tech in Detroit, Michigan and attended Morehouse College in Georgia.

He was employed by Beaumont Hospital in many positions. There is a plaque there in the hospital dedicated to his outstanding service and also in one of the garden areas theres also a bench that has been dedicated in his name .

He loved to travel, shop and dress well. He was a great dancer and loved Pattie Labelle. He would never miss any of her concerts, he would always sit front row center, so he could be close enough to give her roses and a huge teddy bear.

Whitney was a great son, brother, grandson nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
Whitney was a real great loss to our family. We miss and love him so much.

THE MEASURE OF A MAN

Not - How did he die? But - How did he live? Not - What did he gain? But - What did he give?

These are the things that measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not - What was his station? But - had he a heart? And - How did he play his God-given part?

Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer? To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not - What was his church? Not - What was his creed? But - Had he befriended those really in need?

Not - What did the sketch in the newspaper say? But - How many were sorry when he passed away?

These are the things that measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
