Frank B. Sherburne enlisted for Civil War army service in Company F, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, as a private, August 9, 1862, at Pittsfield Township, Lorain County Ohio for a term of 3 years. He sustained a flesh wound by gunshot, 2 inches below his right knee at the Battle of Resaca, Georgia, May 14, 1864. Hospitalized for six weeks at Cumberland Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, he returned to duty and was promoted to corporal, November 1, 1864. He was mustered out with Company F, at Raleigh, North Carolina, June 12, 1864, at the war's end.
