On December 8, 2010, I was blissfully happy. I was almost 35 weeks pregnant with our first son, who we were naming Edison. We decided to name him Edison after his great grandpa, and also after Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison was an amazing inventor and scientist, however we most admired him because of his mental outlook on life. Thomas Edison believed in persistence, hard work, and a positive attitude.
On December 9, 2010, our world was shattered. A negligent driver ran two stop signs, struck me as I walked in the middle of a crosswalk, and kept driving as I went under their car. This driver never stopped, but left me and Edison for dead. Incredible physicians and health care workers managed to save my life; Edison was born with a heartbeat, but with traumatic and fatal brain injuries. He died shortly after his birth.
Because I was in surgery myself, I never was able to hold my son. When I finally did regain consciousness, I found myself struggling with the most basic human functions: breathing, moving, eating. With phenomenal help from my family, friends, and faith, we slowly started healing. As we grieved the loss of our child, we focused on the reasons we gave our son his name: Persistence. Hard work. Positive attitude
Edison will motivate us every day to push ourselves to help more, to love more, to give more.
Big thank you to Dylan and Ciana for Sponsoring Little Edison's page!

Hello baby Edison, your story broke my heart when I saw what happened to your mom on the news back in December. I hope that someday that person is caught and they learn the precious life they have taken away. Rest in peace baby boy.|
