Rebecca Erin Spach Landes
Birth: Jul. 26, 1971
Charleston
Charleston County
South Carolina, USA
Death: Dec. 23, 2009
California, USA

Rebecca Erin Spach Landes, of San Diego, CA and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC, wife of Jeffrey Eric Landes, passed from this life December 23, 2009, in a tragic car accident.

Born July 26, 1971, in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of James Spach and Shannon Gillikin Spach.

Becky's family includes her husband Jeff and two beautiful boys, Ethan and Reid. She was the owner of Vetsol veterinarian products, and she grew up attending Christ Our King Catholic School, Wando High School, and she graduated from the University of South Carolina. She attended San Diego First Assembly in San Diego, CA.

Becky was a strong believer in God and was very active at her church in California where she volunteered in the children's programs. Conserving the earth's God given resources was a passion that infiltrated every part of Becky's life. From setting up and maintaining her church's recycling program, to volunteering with the San Diego Zero Waste Society, to educating her children in the benefits of composting, Becky's desire to preserve the environment for future generations was evident. She was also active in her children's lives by volunteering in Ethan's kindergarten, reading to the children, and was a room mother for both of her children's classes. Not only did Becky lead by example with conservation, but also with healthy eating, daily exercising, and a lifestyle of being active. At least one day a week, Becky would walk her children the two miles to school. Becky would also participate with Ethan in a parent-child running club before school instilling the importance of a consistent healthy routine.

Since a young girl, Becky showed a strong love for animals. Her last full time job was at UC Davis in the Animal Behavior department. She enjoyed imparting advice from years of experience on how to better train one's pet. Besides adopting animals over the years, she also volunteered with animal organizations including the Birds of Prey Rehabilitation and FOCAS - Friends of County Animal Shelters. Becky and Jeff were blessed with two delightful blond boys, Ethan, five, and Reid, three. The boys are smart, creative, and really funny. Becky and Jeff decided she should be a stay at home mom to dedicate her time to the two boys. Their mom loves them so much, and her absence will be the most difficult part of this story. Becky will only be physically absent because her spirit and love will always surround us all.

In addition to her husband and sweet children, Becky's family also includes her parents, James and Shannon Gillikin Spach of Mt. Pleasant; her sister, Michelle DeMarco and husband Jay, children Matthew, Christopher, and Lauren of Mt. Pleasant; and her brother Steven Spach, wife Dolphin and their children Ariel and Tradd also of Mt. Pleasant; by her aunts, Pam Rector of Mt. Pleasant, Denie White of McClellanville, SC, and Mary Wald from Arkansas and their families.

Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant.
