Lloyd A. Fairchild, an 88-year-old resident of Nampa, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Holly in Nampa.
Lloyd was the eleventh-child born out of twelve children to Thomas and Amelia Sunderland Fairchild on January 30, 1924. Born and raised in Burley, Idaho, and after working several years in southern California, Lloyd moved to Nampa in the mid-1950s and made it his home. On November 24, 1961, Lloyd married Carol Klefman Wadsworth, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
He had an engaging personality and made friends easily. Lloyd's quick wit and playful sense of humor made him fun to be around; and the ‘little boy' twinkle in his eye always reminded everyone of Dennis the Menace. He was no stranger to hard work and enjoyed a fascinating history of employment, from working at McCall as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp, working as a laundryman, tool and die maker, gas station attendant, tavern owner, disc jockey for KCID radio in Caldwell, Fuller Brush salesman, and finally U.S. Postal employee, from which he retired in 1984. Lloyd's many interests and hobbies included: singing, fishing, bowling, feeding birds and squirrels, rock hunting, golfing, reading Louis L'Amour, watching old black-and-white TV westerns, working cross-word puzzles, playing cribbage, playing a variety of other board games and playing card games. Like his brothers and sisters, Lloyd also loved the City of Rocks and spent many wonderful times there searching for the hidden stagecoach gold.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol of Nampa; children, Galyn (Nancy) Wadsworth of McCall, Dana Wadsworth of Corte Madera, CA, Tom Fairchild (Linda) of Moscow, and Dan Fairchild of Nampa; grandchildren, Toby Wadsworth of Seattle, WA, Nick Wadsworth of Boise, Chiara and Bella Arellano of Corte Madera, David Fairchild of Boise, Nicole (Andy) VanderZiel of Wichita, KS, Joshua (Karen) Fairchild of South Plainsfield, NJ, Megan Fairchild of Moscow, and Caleb Fairchild of Spokane, WA; great-grandchildren, Talia Beebe of Seattle, Ella, Joshua and Abigail VanderZiel of Wichita, Jackson Fairchild of South Plainsfield, and Aiden Fairchild of Moscow; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eleven siblings and one granddaughter, Brandi Fairchild of Seattle, WA.
The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and residents of Trinity Health and Rehab of Holly for the compassionate care provided to Lloyd during his stay.
Funeral services will be on Thursday February 16th at 2:00 PM at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel
Burial will follow at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa,
ID.
