Daughter of Darling Johnson and Priscilla Kersey. She was the second wife of John Thomas Benson, after the death of his first wife, Amanda Hutchison, from complications during childbirth of her third son. Jennie and John T. Benson were married on 10 October 1877. They had five children: Priscilla Jane Benson (born 25 Oct 1878, died in 1879); Wilmer Kersey Benson (born 19 Aug 1880, died 7 Feb 1948); Alden John Benson (born 11 Nov 1881, died 25 Feb 1952); Howard Benson (born 4 Dec 1887, died October 1964); and Beuleh C. Benson (born 29 Aug 1890, died May 1976).
