Born the fourth of five daughters to Army Colonel George Horace Morgan and Mary "Mollie" Brownson, she lived the life of a typical 'Army Brat.' She married 2nd LT Derosey Carroll Cabell Jr on 14 June 1916, the day after his graduation from the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. They had two children: Virginia Cabell Benson (born 15 June 1918 at Douglas, Arizona), and Derosey Carroll Cabell III (born 30 August 1919 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas). They were divorced in December 1945 and she never remarried. From 1945 until her death in 1978, she lived in Washington, DC, with her remaining ten years at the Army Distaff Hall there. Edith Morgan suffered from ALS Disease in the last ten years of her life, but died from a heart attack. She is buried next to her parents, in Arlington National Cemetery.
