Anna M. O'Toole(nee Ferro)of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away on August 31, 1979. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Raymond O'Toole, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1973.
Anna was a homemaker whose world revolved around her family. She was gifted in many ways. She really knew how to garden; she had beautiful roses, hydrangeas and a snowball bush in her small Kensington back yard. She didn't do anything for her plants to thrive, just kept them watered. She was a good seamstress and made her children and grandchildren clothes. She crocheted(she tried to teach me to crochet, but I am left handed and she was right handed so that didn't work out, so I learned to knit). She also stretched lace curtains which I don't believe is done anymore. She did this for other people. She would starch them and put them on a curtain stretcher which adjusted to size.
She also had her own workbench in the cellar. I don't know any other woman who has that. You did NOT mess with Mom's workbench and the nuts and bolts and other items she had in old baby food jars. She knew what was there and where it was. She had the eyes of an eagle and always knew where everything in that cellar was supposed to be.
Her nickname was "Sarge", a name the owner of our corner store gave her, but we (her children) had better not call her that. She never told us not to; it was just understood.
Her main focus in life was her family.
Anna was the mother of 8 children, one of which predeceased her. His name was Benjamin R. O'Toole, Jr. who was killed in an auto accident in Connecticut in 1949 at the age of 17. She is survived by 7 children. Children are: Mary O'Toole Koller(the late George), Ann O'Toole Weney(the late Tom), Albert F. O'Toole, Sr.(Joan), Harry O'Toole, Sr.(Joan), Robert O'Toole, Sr., John O'Toole, Sr. and Joan O'Toole Pacitti(John).
She had 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

NOTE: THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE ORIGINAL MEMORIAL FOR MY MOTHER. I AM QUITE SICK ABOUT THAT, BUT CAN'T CHANGE IT. I DEFINITELY WILL BE ADDING TO THIS EACH DAY UNTIL IT'S FINISHED. TO ALL THOSE WHO WERE KIND ENOUGH TO LEAVE REMEMBRANCES FOR MY MOM, I THANK YOU. I'M SORRY THEY WERE LOST DUE TO MY CARELESSNESS.
