Many people remember "Ned" fondly either from the years of his proprietorship of a bowling alley and pool hall or from his latter enterprise of a bicycle shop. His excellent character is rememebred well by locals who often mention stories like, "I was just a little kid and he would fix my flat bike tire for free because he didn't want to see me cry." He loved his wife dearly and was a true romantic, building the still-existing family home as a "suprise gift" when they were newlyweds. He was proud of his family. Pictures of himself and his businesses have been included in historical books and articles about the town of Bristol.
