Son of Jacob Dunlap Pickett and Eleanor Minerva (Smith) Pickett.
Grandson of John S. Pickett and Louisa J. (Everitt) Pickett and Asa Smith and Annie L. (Updyke) Smith.
Served as a Private in the 21st Artillery, Co. C., during World War I. His name is on the monument in downtown New Hope.
He married Winnie Ann Bacon on June 24, 1920 in New Hope, PA. After their marriage they also resided in New Hope.
They had 3 children together; Margaret Eunice Pickett, John Ernest Pickett, Jr., and Richard George Pickett.
John did a lot of odd jobs during his lifetime but was mainly employed as a bridge guard on the Lambertville-New Hope bridge on the Lambertville, NJ side. The uniform he is wearing in photos were part of that job.
